The Dogwood Energy Facility is a clean, modern natural-gas fueled power plant that provides 675 MW of reliable electricity to Kansas City and the broader Southwest Power Pool (SPP) region.

  • Located in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Dogwood uses highly efficient combined-cycle technology based on two Siemens Westinghouse 501F combustion turbines that began commercial operations in 2003 and have been upgraded to Siemens’ latest technology.

  • Dogwood supplies enough electric energy in a year to meet the needs of 250,000 homes.

  • The Facility’s majority owners are five public power utilities that serve a multitude of municipalities in Missouri and Kansas. Evergy Missouri West is also a co-owner.

  • The Dogwood business is managed and operated on the owners’ behalf by Dogwood Power Management—an experienced independent power asset management company.

The Dogwood Facility supplies reliable and efficient baseload power to the regional SPP power grid. Dogwood can also change its output quickly to balance the dynamic electrical system needs created by variable production from renewable supplies such as wind and solar generation.
